About Myself 🙋♂️
I am an undergraduate Software Systems student at Simon Fraser University. I have been passionate about building things from the ground up ever since I was a child. What once meant creating with LEGO bricks has evolved into building software. I have a strong passion for solving real-world problems through clean, user-centered design and scalable software solutions. I enjoy developing strong backend architectures, building intuitive web applications, exploring systems-level programming, and continuously learning new technologies to sharpen my skills.
My academic journey has provided me with a solid foundation in programming, algorithms, and software engineering principles. I've led and contributed to several projects—from full-stack web apps and autonomous robots to robust backend architectures that improve stability. Whether working independently or as part of a team, I bring focus, adaptability, and a genuine curiosity to every challenge I face.
Beyond code, I care deeply about clarity, collaboration, and making meaningful contributions to both the projects I take on and the people I work with.
... and as you can tell, I love the color red.
My Projects 🛠️
SFU Toolbox
Led a team of five as Project Manager in designing and building a modern web application using Hugo and React, streamlining campus tools with improved UI/UX and expanded functionality.
Project management
Agile-style
CI/CD
Jakob Nielsen's 10 Usability Heuristics
Course Info Tracker
We developped a course information tracker using Java and Spring Boot, processing SFU's 2018 course offerings from CSV files with a well-structured, object-oriented backend.
Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
JSON serialization
Backend development
Password Generator
I built a password generator from scratch using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with an intuitive UI that can generate random passwords of different strength levels based on specifications and copying to dashboard functionality.
Front-end development
Quiz Game (Yet to finish)
I built, and am currently improving, a quiz game from scratch using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that will soon have added features like tracking local-best score, categorizing questions and their respective answers, offering different levels of difficulty and number of questions, and a Turkish language support!
Front-end development
Currency Converter
I built a currency converter from scratch using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and free APIs that can convert between any two currencies, as the name suggests, and has added heuristic-improving functionalities like swapping currencies!
API usage
Full-stack development
LEGO Robot Build
Collaborated in a team of three to fully design and build an autonomous LEGO robot that was able to interpret colored lines and execute context-specific actions like obstacle removal or directional changes using a synchronized system of sensors and motors.
We engineered and iteratively refined the robot's software, structure and movable arm to perform complex mechanical tasks with high precision and responsiveness.

My Volunteer Experience 🙆♂️
Recreation & Fitness Assistant (SFU Recreation)
My typical work day at SFU's Fitness & Recreation Centre actively consists of guiding community members with signing in, navigation and their exercises, cleaning and organizing the gyms and the front desk area, and keeping track of important information such as headcounts and equipments.
I also value coming up with creative ideas and effective problem solving skills to help improve the fitness & recreation community for the members.

Terry Fox Run 2024
We guided fellow runners with navigation and cheered for them for support in the annual Terry Fox run happening at Simon Fraser University. When our duty was over, we also ran to raise awareness for this important day!

Activity Coordinator Assistant Captain (Vancouver International Children's Festival)
Volunteering for over 48 hours at the 47th Vancouver International Children's Festival in 2024, my duty as the Activity Coordinator Assistant Captain was to oversee every activity stand in the Activity Village, help out patrons, and making brake schedules for fellow volunteers.

Besides Coding...
My Hobbies & Interests
I have a wide plethora of hobbies & interests, but my top two is soccer (football) ⚽️ and Formula 1 🏎️.
Soccer (Football) & Formula 1: I spent the majority of my childhood kicking the ball around and go-karting, which grew my personality outside of coding to focus on these areas.
Music: Though I enjoy most genres, my favorite is definetely Modern R&B, and my favorite artist is The Weeknd. Fun fact: I've been to his concert in London in 2023, and I still haven't taken my wristband off, which can only be taken off by cutting! So it has basically became my life! I'm also not thinking of taking it off anytime soon, except if I go to another one of his concerts, at which point I will be keeping that new bracelet from that concert!
Movies & TV: I can't decide between movies or shows, but I'm definetely a "watch-something-at-home" type of guy. Watching a movie or show at your own comfort, with your favorite snacks and blanket just feels right! Currently, I'm watching Mr. Robot and I absolutely love it. Definetely recommending! I've also watched and enjoyed Breaking Bad, and even went on to wacth Better Call Saul and El Camino as well (if you didn't know, they tell the story of what happened before and after the main events of Breaking Bad, respectively.) and I recommend watching them in this order: Breaking Bad -> Better Call Saul -> El Camino.
Favorite Topic to Discuss: My favorite topic to discuss outside of my major (Software Systems) is definetely Cognitive Science (or if Matrix could be real or not). I took an introductory-level Cognitive Science course as an elective (COGS 100: Exploring the Mind), and it absolutely blew my mind! It grabbed my attention so much so that I'm even considering doing a Cognitive Science minor. It touched upon some AI topics as well. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun elective.
What Do I Do Now?
At the moment, I am actively seeking internships and co-op opportunities in my field to grow as a software developer, whether in full-stack development, systems engineering, cybersecurity, AI, or IT. I constantly want to learn something new, grow my mindset, and explore topics further so that I have valuable ideas to bring to any table.
This is why I recently took a step towards this goal and took initiative to learn more about databases & networking, and I'm currently learning SQL. I'm trying to use every bit of resource I have and trying to maximize my learning.
Summary
I've come a long way growing my personality and mindset since starting university. Even as I am developping this personal website of mine, I've noticed that I had the most fun in writing the content for this section. We are human before everything else, and even though trends of tech, majors, or job fields change, what shall remain constant is who we are, because no matter which type sports will be the most watched in centuries, or which genre of music will be the most popular, it will always be up to us, and our persona to have our own interests and likings.
